ATS Euromaster to close in UK

ATS Euromaster has announced a structured wind-down of its UK operations, as the business succumbs to rising costs and increased competition.

The company will sell off 49 sites, while another 103, together with its head office and call centre, will close. This move affects 703 roles, from administration staff to technicians.

The move comes after ATS Euromaster closed 86 of its most unprofitable centres in 2025. However, this failed to halt the company’s decline. In a statement, the business said that after the sale of its 49 sites, it will no longer be viable to operate in the UK, due to the reduced scale of the network lacking the geographic reach to compete effectively in the UK.

The closures only affect ATS Euromaster, and no other part of the Euromaster Group.

Difficult moment for ATS Euromaster

“Today’s announcement marks an extremely sad and difficult moment for everyone in the company,” commented Nick Harley, Group Managing Director of Euromaster UK. “We recognise the impact this will have on our colleagues, their families, and the communities ATS Euromaster serves, and it is not a decision we have taken lightly.

“Despite the team’s massive efforts to reshape the business, improve financial performance, and secure a sustainable future, a combination of intense market competition, sluggish activity within the sector and rising costs have left us with no viable path forward to a break-even position.

“Our number one priority now is to treat every employee fairly and respectfully, fully appreciating that many have enjoyed long careers with us. Colleagues transferring to the new owners will do so with continuity and stability, while those in locations proposed for closure will be supported through collective consultation.”

Saving jobs

In an attempt to save as many jobs as possible, ATS Euromaster has entered into discussions with two buyers for a number of its sites. The list of these workshops can be found below.

Formula One Autocentres is negotiating to acquire 35 locations, with an estimated transfer date of 30 April 2026. In addition, S&M Tyres, which trades as Elite Garages, is looking at 14 sites, expected to complete by 18 April 2026. Subject to the completion of these sales, 216 employees across the 49 sites are expected to transfer to the new owners under TUPE regulations.

It is also proposed that 13 staff in the specialist role of mobile night technician will be invited to transfer under TUPE to Tructyre, a separate Euromaster Group business. All current and upcoming vacancies within Tructyre will also be offered to ATS Euromaster staff as a priority to avoid some compulsory redundancies.

Other ATS Euromaster sites not included in the sales process will remain open throughout a period of consultation, which will run until 30 April 2026. If proposals proceed, the final day of trading would be 1 May 2026.
