The A1 ADAS Group has been announced as the School of Thought Automotive’s latest industry partner.
As a not-for-profit organisation, School of Thought Automotive works to change, shape, and raise the profile of the aftermarket; a sector often perceived as a vocational route for those who struggle at school.
This, says A1’s managing director, Iain Molloy, could not be further from the truth. It is something he is keen to help the industry address by supporting School of Thought Automotive financially, and via its Automotive Work Experience (AWE) programme.
“We all know how diverse a career path in the automotive aftermarket can be,” Malloy commented. “However, it is a huge job to get that across to young people and those who advise them.”
A1 ADAS Group operates A1 ADAS Solutions, A1 Diagnostic Solutions, and A1 Remote Diagnostics. The company also recently announced the acquisition of Autocalibration Ltd., increasing its reach across the UK aftermarket.
Its work on calibration and diagnostic solutions is an example of the many opportunities the industry has to offer. This means it will play a key role in supporting School of Thought Automotive.
“A1 is the perfect example of an automotive business that does not really involve getting oil on your hands,” continued Malloy. “We have roles for those who want to work with the latest technology, and maybe even progress to board level.
Support for School of Thought Automotive
“Adam, our operations director, worked alongside me during the pandemic to help out. He was only 18 at the time and headed for university. He never left!
“The work experience ignited an aptitude and passion for the complex world of ADAS and diagnostics; one he may have never discovered otherwise.
“Even though he is still only 23, Adam has a reputation for solving difficult jobs that experienced technicians twice his age struggle with. He is on the board and playing an integral role in the group’s growth.
“Whilst getting young people through the door and growing your own talent is not a new concept, it is not easy for our sector. That is why I want to support School of Thought Automotive and stand beside everyone in the industry who is passionate about doing the same.”
Dave Reece, who runs School of Thought Automotive, said: “By partnering with companies like A1 ADAS Group, we’ll be able to reach out to more young people and show them just how fantastic our industry really is.”
