After a long hiatus, at the fault of the COVID-19 pandemic, Automechanika Birmingham is back. The 2023 show opened with crowds pouring into the halls of the NEC in Birmingham, eager to see the latest innovations, technologies and more in an aftermarket industry that has changed a lot since the last time the event was held.
In the last four years, drivers have started holding onto cars for longer, causing the UK car park to age. This means more work for the aftermarket, but there are other challenges too. Electric vehicle technology has grown at apace, with battery-electric vehicles now the second most popular fuel type in the country. Connected technologies and ADAS have also developed rapidly. No longer is the aftermarket purely mechanical, instead, software and technology plays a critical role in the repair and maintenance of vehicles, something evident at Automechanika Birmingham.
Throughout the halls, there are hundreds of companies showcasing the latest products and services, from strobe lighting to wheel alignment, garage management to recycled parts supplies. You can see a handful of these companies in our Day One Review video below.
