Autotech Group is to sponsor the NAPA Racing UK team in the 2023 British Touring Car Championship.
The move will not only see the Autotech Group logo adorn the NAPA Racing UK cars in this year’s BTCC series, bit also gives the automotive recruitment specialist an opportunity to expand upon its national competition for automotive students to experience a day working as a race mechanic at championship level.
Initially launched as part of Autotech Group’s sponsorship of Bennetts British Superbike Championship rider, Storm Stacey, and Ruben Hage Racing from the Ginetta GT5 Challenge during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, the competition generated significant success while fueling the automotive ambition of young talent.
Now, through the platform of NAPA Racing UK, Autotech Group is set to double the number of competition spaces available to students studying for an automotive qualification at a UK College.
Spending time with NAPA Racing UK
At each race event, starting with the first round of the season at Donington Park on the 22nd and 23rd April, students will get the chance to spend the day with the team’s race mechanics and get up close to the Motorbase Performance run Ford Focus cars driven by British Touring Car champion Ash Sutton and Porsche Carrera Cup champion Dan Cammish.
“The British Touring Car Championship is one of the best-loved, most illustrious motor racing championships in the world, captivating millions of fans every year,” commented Gavin White, CEO of Autotech Group. “We are delighted to announce our sponsorship of the NAPA Racing UK team who enjoyed a victorious maiden season last year when they took home the BTCC Teams Championship title.
“Our ambition is to help create a stream of talent for the automotive industry to stem the skills shortage through our Autotech Academy division and continue to ignite a passion for the sector amongst young people. Bringing our Autotech Group brand and our competition to a national, well-loved platform through the NAPA Racing UK team will help inspire more automotive students.”
Adam McNaney, UK Group Marketing Manager for The Alliance Automotive Group/NAPA Racing, added: “We are delighted to have Autotech Group on board as we start what we hope will be an exciting year for NAPA Racing UK. There are clear synergies between NAPA and Autotech Group, and it will be exciting to see how the next generation of automotive talent can be introduced to this sector.”
The Autotech Group competition is open to any student who is currently studying for, or who has qualified in the last three years with, a Level 3 automotive qualification. To be in with a chance of winning this exclusive experience, those looking to enter will be able to submit their entries from February onwards via the Autotech Academy website.
