The British Independent Garage of the Year awards, a new event from the Independent Garage Association (IGA), is now open for entries.
Delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the awards ceremony will take place on Friday 19th August 2022 at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre. Held in association with the British Motor Show, the ceremony will shine a light on the country’s best and brightest independent garages and vehicle technicians.
There are a number of categories that garages can enter themselves for:
- Independent Garage of the Year – Overall
- Independent Garage of the Year – Large
- Independent Garage of the Year – Small
- Customer Service Award
- Communication Award
- Community Engagement Award
- Innovation Award
- Outstanding Achievement Award
- Training & Development Award
- Environmental Award
- EV Specialist Award
- Consumer Choice Award
- Business Improvement Award
- Individual Contribution Award

BIG award winners will receive a trophy and recognition from the UK’s largest trade body for independent garages, plus industry-wide press coverage, marketing and business opportunities, helping to attract both new customers and the best talent to their garage.
All shortlisted garages will receive two complimentary tickets to an evening of entertainment, celebration and dancing on the 19th August. For those who do not make the list, Tickets are available for £75 + VAT per person and include four-day entry to The British Motor Show 2022. “As the UK’s largest representative trade body for independent garages, we felt it was time independents got the recognition they deserve with awards truly created by the industry, for the industry,” the IGA stated. “The BIG Awards are open to all and will recognise garages across the length and breadth of Britain, with categories highlighting all aspects of running a successful, local garage business.”
