Delphi adds Tesla service training to course list

The first-ever ‘Tesla Service and Maintenance’ course has been held at Delphi’s recently expanded training centre in Warwick.

The course comes as Tesla increases its presence in the UK automotive market, with more models expected to enter independent workshops in the coming months. The brand currently accounts for one in five battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) on UK roads, a figure that could increase significantly if the carmaker prioritises UK deliveries over those in the EU.

With this in mind, Delphi say workshops must be prepared to meet the growing demand.

“There are 85,000 additional Tesla units entering the aftermarket within the next two years,” said Luke Garratt, UK Technical Services Manager at Delphi. “As these cars begin to arrive in independent garages, it is crucial for technicians to understand the unique Tesla service and maintenance needs.

“We have developed this new course to provide the practical knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to confidently work on Tesla vehicles.”

Knowledge behind Tesla courses

Using the latest manufacturers data and training methods, the first of the new Tesla service training sessions took place on September 20th

Participants on Delphi’s upcoming courses will engage in hands-on, practical tasks that teach essential Tesla service techniques, helping them stay competitive in the growing EV market. The course covers operating Tesla’s service mode, accessing service documents, performing air conditioning and battery services, brake work, tyre repair and replacement, and Tesla-specific wheel alignment and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) calibration.

“As both an OE and aftermarket manufacturer, we are increasing our efforts to support workshops,” said Garratt. “Our trainers are seasoned technicians with hands-on workshop experience, ensuring our courses reflect real-world situations, practical scenarios, and diagnostic techniques.”

Investment from Delphi

A half-a-million-pound investment over the summer has seen the Warwick-based Delphi Academy double in size by extending into a neighbouring unit, bringing the total floor space to 1,430 square meters. Addressing industry needs, the extension features brand new state-of-the-art training amenities dedicated to hybrid and electric vehicle education.

It comes as part of Delphi’s ongoing mission to support workshops with the knowledge, diagnostic tools, parts and technical support needed to efficiently work on today’s increasingly complicated car parc.

The next ‘Tesla Service and Maintenance’ course takes place on November 10th at Delphi Academy in Warwick.
