LKQ Academy is offering 25% reductions on a range of courses this January, including the IMI level 2/3 Hybrid and EV training course.
The discount gives garages a good opportunity to start 2024 on the right path, upskilling technicians to be able to diagnose and repair faults on more complex vehicles and systems. The Hybrid and EV training course is a must have, as EV sales continue to increase, yet 72% of technicians have yet to receive training in this area.
LKQ Academy offers more than 80 different courses, covering everything from technical skills to business management, and innovative courses such as ‘technical for non-technical staff’, designed to help front-of-house team members grow their knowledge and deepen trust with customers, and included in the January sale.
Training is delivered across more than 25 UK sites, including brand new LKQ training centres in Glasgow and Manchester, with two more state-of-the-art centres due to open in the next six months, in Tamworth and Reading.
LKQ Academy helping garages evolve
Bob Wiffen, workshop solutions director at LKQ Euro Car Parts said: “Garages have had to evolve and adapt in recent years to keep up with changing regulations and new technologies. With the aftermarket still facing a skills gap, we want to make our training offer available no matter the size of your business or location.
“At the same time, it is important to highlight and address the recruitment challenges facing the industry with a reported 24,000 vacancies in the UK and Ireland. LKQ Academy is supporting garages’ ability to promote from within by providing training for non-technical employees, to gain technical skills and move from reception into the workshop – be it as a technician or as a workshop controller.”
Garages and technicians can also take advantage of LKQ Academy memberships, that start from just £649. The most popular individual membership costs £999 – which includes unlimited training. Platinum memberships are available at a workshop level and offer access to 20 training days and 20 eLearning courses annually for just £2,499 a year – with no limit to the number of staff who can be trained. It should be noted that the 25% January discount does not apply to membership fees.
LKQ Academy also offers a Technical Helpline that helps customers to resolve problems eating into their productivity. Over the last 12 months, the helpline has taken over 12,500 calls, saving technicians a massive £1,500,000 in labour costs (Based on a two-hour saving per call at £65 per hour workshop labour rate).
