LKQ UK & Ireland, has donated more than £64,000 to 139 community causes across the nation, from boosting grassroots football teams to supporting vital palliative care charities, through its 280-strong LKQ Euro Car Parts branch network in 2024.
LKQ UK & Ireland donated money via its Community Branch Fund scheme, which was launched in 2023 to help branches access funds to donate to projects and charitable causes close to the hearts of their colleagues and communities.
Almost half of the UK-wide donations were used to support sports clubs and initiatives in branches’ local communities. Use of these funds ranged from supporting a kickboxing team to compete in New York, to buying a new training kit for the Redcar Town under 12s lionesses team.
South East boost from LKQ
LKQ branches in the South East contributed the most out of any region, donating more than £12,700 across 24 causes. For example, funds were used to provide specialist equipment to a local hospice, make multiple investments into community sports clubs, and for a donation to the Childhood Tumour Trust, which helps young people affected by Neurofibromatosis and their families to go on annual summer camps.
In Yorkshire, more than £7,800 has been donated. Highlights include colleagues at LKQ Euro Car Parts in Halifax donating to their local food bank, funding essential items for families in the community, including hot meals every Thursday.
And strong results in the West Midlands, LKQ Car Parts’ home region, has seen donations of more than £7,500. For instance, the company’s Tamworth branch donated to Simon’s Heroes charity, an organisation that improves the quality of life for local children with life-limiting illnesses.
“We often fundraise at a national and industry level at LKQ, but the Community Branch Fund allows us to give back to the causes that really matter to our people and their communities,” said Kevan Wooden, CEO at LKQ UK & Ireland.
“The fund aims to make a difference to a huge variety of community groups, charities, hospices, sports teams and more. It has been great to see our colleagues come together, take a genuine interest in each other’s stories and to support each other’s chosen causes.”
In 2024, LKQ UK & Ireland also saw the completion of its second annual business-wide Summer of FUNdraising, where 23 teams took part in various challenges to raise money for selected charities Ben, Pieta and to bolster ongoing support for the war effort in Ukraine.
