In an example of the importance of e-commerce amongst automotive aftermarket suppliers, Alliance Automotive Group UK (AAG) has increased its presence in this area by acquiring the company behind the Parts In Motion platform.
The purchase of Automotion Factors Limited signals AAG’s intent to build its online presence, supplying parts via digital means, alongside the traditional factor model. Parts In Motion is a leading e-commerce platform focused on automotive components and accessories with annual sales of approximately £20 million, and a well-established market presence that will continue to expand as part of the AAG family
A current member of the AAG Trading Group, Parts In Motion was established in 2013, and has delivered over one million car parts since then. The website offers a multitude of car parts, alongside audio and cleaning products, workshop supplies and leisure equipment.
Bright future for Parts In Motion
“Parts In Motion is not only a key member of our Trading Troup with whom we have a longstanding relationship, but also a major player in the e-commerce segment”, said Steve Richardson, Managing Director of AAG. “When making acquisitions, we always prioritise companies that add value to our offering and Parts In Motion allows us to further enhance our digital capability, making it a great fit for us and a logical step in our development”.
For Parts In Motion, joining the AAG family gives them a competitive advantage and access to the resources needed to start the next chapter in its already impressive growth story.
Whilst the e-commerce platform will continue to operate under its existing management team, the business will become part of AAG’s digital team led by Jonathan Eden and Lewis Selby.
Gavin Samwell, CEO of Parts In Motion, commented, “We are delighted to have found the natural home for our business in AAG. The digital sector is extremely competitive so becoming part of a leading global aftermarket organisation makes sense for the future of our business. We are proud and appreciative of our team and the business they have helped us develop. It will be exciting to see where we can take the business from here.”
The financial details of the acquisition have not been made public.
