Philips HID Xenon bulb technology matches colour of existing bulb to allow single bulb replacementover an even greater range of cars than ever before.
It has been around 30 years since Philips was the co-inventor of the HID Xenon headlamp bulb. As well as allowing a brighter legal light than the then-traditional Halogen light, one of the other benefits of HID Xenon was its significantly longer life. There was for a long time, however, the issue of the change in colour of Xenon bulbs over their lifetime, which meant that replacing a single bulb made the two headlamp bulbs look mis-matched.
The arrival of the Philips Xenon Vision range allowed a single burned-out lamp to be replaced – matching the colour of the unchanged one, thanks to its single-lamp replacement technology. Therefore it is the ideal replacement lamp and it’s economical too! The launch of the D8S HID Xenon Vision bulb, which incorporates Xenon Vision technology, brings the technology to a whole new range of cars.
The Philips Xenon Vision D8S is compatible with Citroen’s DS3 platform, Ford’s Focus and Mustang platforms and that of the Kia Forte and Hyundai Santa Fe, as well as VW’s Amarok, Beetle, Caddy and Touareg. Electric car owners are also to benefit from the D8S, which covers Tesla’s Model S range.
“As the co-inventor of HID Xenon technology and, indeed, of most of the major advances in automotive lighting over the last century, the Philips brand continues to stand for innovation,” explains Richard Armstrong, Business Development Manager Automotive – UK & Eire for Lumileds. “This new Xenon Vision bulb recognises the need to keep motoring costs low for as wide a band of motorists as possible -especially in these difficult times – and it helps to keep the brand at the forefront of the industry.”
Philips Xenon Vision is available in D1S, D1R, D2S, D2R, D3S, D3R, D4S, D4R, D5S and now D8S variants, offering exceptional aftermarket coverage of the HID Xenon-fitted vehicle park.
The range of Philips Xenon headlamps is comprehensive and comprises a number of upgrade options. With the Philips Xenon X-tremeVision gen2 range for extra performance or the Xenon WhiteVision gen2 for supreme style, as well as Xenon LongerLife for those looking for the longest-lasting Philips Xenon option, Philips automotive lighting products offer the right product to match the needs of the motorist.
