Regal Autosport benefits from Straightset expertise

Needing a set up that benefitted its work with modified suspension and race car set ups, Regal Autosport turned to Straightset to help.

The workshop, based in Southampton, is an independent specialist for European brands, such as Audi, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Porsche. They not only provide diagnostics, servicing, and repairs for these brands but also offer performance upgrades, such as performance suspension.

Regal Autosport sought to improve their wheel alignment services to support their increasing customer base with new vehicles and vehicles modified with performance suspension. With a long-standing relationship as their trusted service partner for their existing Supertracker Wheel Aligner, Straightset was perfectly positioned to meet this need.

Together, the companies explored the suitability of the Q.Lign wheel alignment system, a move that set the stage for an enhanced workshop capability tailored to their evolving requirements.

Through a thorough consultation, demonstration, and seamless installation process, Straightset delivered a cutting-edge solution that combined precision, connectivity, and future-ready functionality.

Enhanced Technology 

Regal Autosport sought a solution that would not only provide greater accuracy and repeatability but also align with potential future needs, such as compatibility with an ADAS calibration rig.

To find the best fit, the workshop explored various wheel alignment systems, conducting a thorough fact-finding exercise to identify a product that met their immediate requirements while accommodating long-term goals.

Key Requirements for Regal Autosports

The independent garage outlined several critical criteria for their new alignment system.

It needs a compact design that would maximise workshop space without the need for a cabinet or fixed post in front of the lift. The system needed to be easy to use and set up to streamline operations, and offer accuracy and repeatability, precision that adhered to vehicle manufacturer specifications.

The system also needed to have advanced features, such as the ability to integrate with an ADAS calibration rig in the future.

The Q.Lign system emerged as the ideal choice for Regal Autosports, with its innovative compact and mobile design, allowing wheel alignment checks to be carried out anywhere within the workshop, with no cabinet or totem pole, taking up valuable workshop space.  The OLED displays on each of the two measurement heads provide easy to view alignment data directly under the vehicle during adjustments, leaving your hands free for adjustments.

In addition, the unique fast attaching Q.Grips clamps and specialised Magnetic Clamps, allowed for non-contact rim measurements approved by leading manufacturers such as VAG and BMW.

Installation process

The installation of the new system was led by Straightset’s Wheel Alignment Experts.

Lift brackets were securely installed on the existing scissor lift, while existing turn plates were replaced with precision turn plates from Beissbarth after thorough cleaning of the recesses. Measurement heads, target boards, and the latest database and software were also configured.

The Q.Lign Viewer and Android App software were also provided, enabling Regal Autosport to manage alignment data across various devices. By connecting the Q.Lign system to their network via LAN, completed reports could be accessed and downloaded on any PC within the company’s server.

On-site training

During the onsite training session, Straightset took the full team at Regal Autosport to the end to end process of operating the Q.Lign system. This included operating the tablet for vehicle selection from both the latest installed vehicle data as well as their own custom database, wheel alignment readings and reporting as well as optimum operation of the wheel clamps and troubleshooting.

Straightset’s commitment to customer satisfaction extends beyond installation, a follow-up visit is scheduled within 4-6 weeks to address any questions or concerns. Additionally, a service contract covering annual calibration and database updates was generated to ensure  Q.Lign system remains in peak condition.
