Ring Automotive, an OSRAM business, has got 2020 off to a winning start, after Auto Express and Car Mechanic Magazine shone a light on the Ring MAGflex Pivot RIL3900HP, placing it in first place for the inspection lamp ‘Best Buy 2020’.
The innovative product edged eight other inspection lamps in the Auto Express test and 11 in the Car Mechanics Magazine test with its slim design, for ease of use, and multi axis rotation and tilt, which enables light to be directed exactly where it is required, placing it firmly in the spotlight.
Designed especially for the workshop, the pocket-sized, lightweight lamp can be used on the go, and at just 6mm deep, it will allow users to squeeze into the tightest of gaps with its concentrated beam, which emits up to 400 lumens.
Rechargeable and cordless, with a Li-ion battery for consistent light output, the compact lamp has a 3-hour maximum power operating time, so technicians no longer have to worry about being left in the dark.
To determine a worthy winner, light output and beam spread were measured, as well as assessing torches and run time at maximum power.
Power-saving modes were also tested, plus battery charge and state indicators. The products were then put into practice, with technicians looking at how easy it is to shine light where it is needed.
Henry Bisson, marketing manager for Ring Automotive, said: “Both wins are a testament to the expertise and forward-thinking approach that has gone into the design of the MAGflex Pivot.
“When creating this particular product, we put the professional first, and it was therefore important to ensure it could meet the requirements of a busy workshop environment. It needed to be able to shine light into the most inaccessible places, while keeping charge and being comfortable to work with.”
