SMP Europe rebrands for next phase of growth

Standard Motor Products Europe has rebranded to SMP Europe to reflect the company’s continued growth and development in the automotive industry.

The move to the new branding is designed to ensure clarity on SMP Europe’s identity, its position in a changing automotive market and, its engineering expertise. Lucas, Intermotor and Lemark brands will operate under the SMP Europe umbrella and go to market with their own bespoke sales and marketing strategy.

Over the past 10 years, the company has invested heavily in its technical and engineering resource, becoming the authority on engine management product solutions, culminating in its appointment as licensee for the Lucas engine management programme.

The move to the new branding follows an extensive overhaul of its UK site, investing further resources into its Centre of Excellence in Nottingham, making it the engineering hub of all activities and growing its engineering workforce. The site has also seen the addition of new workshop facilities and engineering equipment to aid the rapid prototyping of products.

As an example, SMP Europe engineers increase the rate in which new products are introduced and work on – and develop – innovative powertrain technologies that meet both current and future vehicle regulations to ensure the company maintains its position as a leader in engine management solutions.

Richard Morley, SMP Europe Commercial Director, said: “The change to SMP Europe reflects our evolution as a company, while maintaining a connection to our history. SMP Europe will provide the foundation for the next stage of growth and development and enable the company to demonstrate its expertise in manufacturing, engineering and technical knowledge, enhancing our ability to service customers.”
