Lighting manufacturer, OSRAM recently provided training and gave advice to students at Warrington College.
With students being a significant part of the future of the automotive aftermarket, OSRAM is dedicated to assisting in their education, which is why representatives from the business, in conjunction with Mike Smallbone from Aftermarket Business Solutions, recently conducted two training sessions for students at Warrington College.
Throughout the day, students learned about the aftermarket, bulb technology, business opportunities when it comes to upselling and fitting bulbs and the importance of fitting premium quality products.
Marketing Director, Henry Bisson, was one of the representatives delivering the lectures on the day. He said: “We were pleased to see so many students actively engaging with our material. We saw a lot of passion and desire to learn at Warrington College and that is encouraging.
Benefitting Warrington College students
“There is lots of complexity when it comes to automotive lighting including the different technologies and the future developments of it too,” Bisson added. “There are also profit opportunities to be made in bulbs, but we do not see many workshops taking this opportunity, which is why we want to teach the younger people in the industry why they should be charging for this and how it benefits them, as well as their customers.
“We also wanted to stress the importance of fitting premium quality and reputable components, as fitting a poor-quality bulb may dazzle other drivers, fail prematurely and in some cases, be hazardous in the engine bay and cause damage to the headlight unit.
“Our industry is crying out for trained technicians and Warrington College is helping with this gap massively by introducing students to our industry, so we feel it’s our duty to support these kind of programmes because without them, our industry will dwindle rapidly.”
