National Paint Championships to be held at Automechanika Birmingham 2023

The winner of the National Paint Championships will be unveiled at a live ceremony held on 7th June 2023 at Automechanika Birmingham.

The championships are completely free to enter, with automotive painters tasked with designing the most impressive car bonnet in order to be crowned National Paint Champion. The bonnet designs will be on display during the course of the show from 6th – 8th June, and a professional jury will decide on their favourite design live on stage.

The general public attending Automechanika Birmingham 2023 will also be invited to vote for their favourite motif on a refined bonnet, as participants go head-to-head to battle it out for the People’s Choice Award.

Announced at the bodyshop Awards 2023, hosted by bodyshop magazine on 12th October, the Championships are set to be highly competitive, with the most experienced painters looking to take on the exciting challenge to put their work on the map and showcase their skills.

Themed work for National Paint Championships

All participants must submit a design in line with the theme of ‘Mobility Royale,’ and Automechanika Birmingham is encouraging those interested to enter and get their creative juices flowing to be in with a chance of coming up with the winning design.

“Bodyshop professionals are a key part of the automotive industry and it is great to be hosting what’s set to be a fun-filled and highly anticipated Championships at Automechanika Birmingham,” commented Alex Jones, marketing director of Messe Frankfurt UK, organisers of Automechanika Birmingham.

“This is such an exciting project to be part of and we can’t wait to see the creative designs that participants will produce. The Championships not only provide them with the perfect opportunity to showcase the fabulous work these professional painters do day in, day out, but it also enables us to celebrate their talents to the wider aftermarket.”

The design must be on a vehicle hood and executed to the highest standards but not exceed 50 hours in total to produce. The hood will be exhibited and judged at Automechanika Birmingham from 6 – 8th June 2023.

Entering is simple; all they have to do is click this link and submit their interest via the easy-to-complete form.

When participants enter, they will automatically be included in both categories: The National Paint Champion and the People’s Choice.

The National Paint Champion winner will then be invited to attend Automechanika Frankfurt, taking place in 2024, to compete for international acclaim and become world champion.
