RMI to open new training academy in Lincoln

The RMI Academy of Automotive Skills is opening a new training facility in Lincoln to broaden the reach of its automotive training.

The new site joins three existing locations in Southam, Runcorn and Winchester, and is the first of a number of additional academies planned as part of the trade body’s wider strategy to provide training for garages on a more local basis. A wide array of MOT and technical courses will be available when the site opens in July.

Since its launch, the RMI Academy of Automotive Skills has developed a wide-range of training courses. Alongside the annual MOT training required by the DVSA, the acadamies also offer class 4 and 7 training, and MOT centre management courses. There is also a plethora of other technician training programmes available, from ADAS to F-gas.

The academies also offer training on hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) repair. These courses will become more essential as the number of EVs on UK roads increases in the coming years, especially with carmakers releasing new models and variants.

By broadening its location base, the RMI will be able to offer its training to more garages throughout the UK. At a time when the automotive industry and technology within is changing, this move will no-doubt help more workshops to stay up to date with developments, and ensure they can continue to work on even the most modern vehicles.

“We are pleased to announce the opening of our fourth training academy in our mission to provide affordable, high-quality training for the automotive sector,” commented Stuart James, RMI director.

“As the UK’s leading automotive trade body, we receive a great deal of feedback from the trade requesting training in their local area. We are actively working to facilitate these requests by opening a number of new training sites throughout the country, starting with Lincoln.”
